Fishing

The primary goal of the group is to introduce or reintroduce members to fishing and the enjoyment of the outdoors.

Our leader, Steve Petruska, has more than sixty-five (65) years of fishing experience, including spin and fly fishing in both fresh and salt water. Our current focus has been fishing the freshwater ponds on the Cape for largemouth bass and trout.  We do encourage catch and release.

We have six (6) regulars, many of whom had little or no fishing experience.  Depending on the weather, we try to get on the water on our meeting days.

Our indoor sessions include an introduction and review of basic techniques as well as instructional videos. We've also enjoyed field trips to Bass Pro Shop and Bear's Den (fly fishing shop) and an occasional unscheduled morning on the water if the fish are biting.  We're not always successful, but we enjoy each other's company and our time outdoors.

Steve has extra equipment so there's no need to purchase anything besides footwear (boots) if you're interested in giving it a try.  He'll also help you select your own gear when you're ready.  Everyone is welcome, regardless of their experience.
